June 16, 2007 Nature Walk with John Bates,
Naturalist and Author

When: 9:00AM , Saturday, June 16th, 2007.
Where: Sundstein Road Trailhead – just 4 miles south of the Vilas County Fairgrounds.
What: A guided nature walk along two miles of the Three Eagle Trail. That will take us to the Scenic Mud Creek Bridge. Round trip distance is four miles.
Why: To learn about the north woods flora and fauna that we can observe along the Trail.
Registration: There is no registration required. A donation of $5.00 per person is suggested.
About John Bates: Author of five books on the Northwoods and Upper Midwest. He has worked as a state forest naturalist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and owns Trails North, a naturalist guide service. He also conducts outdoor classes for Nicolet College, the University of Wisconsin Extension, and the North Lakeland Discovery Center. http://www.manitowish.com/trailsnorth.htm


June 18, 2007 Trail Talk at the Demmer Library


When: 6:30PM, Monday, June 18th, 2007.
Where: Lower Level Meeting Room 1 in The Edward U. Demmer Library on West School Street in Three Lakes.
What: An opportunity to learn about the creation of the Three Eagle Trail. Tom Rulseh, President of the Three Eagle Trail Foundation will explain, demonstrate and answer questions about how this community project was developed.
Why: To satisfy that burning curiosity.
Registration: None required but seating is limited.


June 30, 2007 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Notice: We are holding two ceremonies.

  • 1. When: 9:00AM Saturday, June 30th, 2007
    Where: Three Lakes Trailhead at Don Burnside Park in Three Lakes.
  • 2. When 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 30th, 2007
    Where: Sundstein Road Trailhead, Four miles south of the Vilas County Fairgrounds.

What: The official opening of the new Three Eagle Trail. Time will allow for a leisurely 8.5 mile bike ride between the ceremonies if you would like to attend both. The festive atmosphere will include commemorative remarks by public dignitaries, local media coverage, complimentary refreshments and recognition of supportive people like you.
Why: To celebrate the completion of phase one of the Three Eagle Trail, a biking and walking trail between the communities of Three Lakes and Eagle River.


July 14, 2007 Three Eagle Trail Fun Walk/Run


When: 9:00AM Saturday, July 14th, 2007
Where: Sundstein Road Trailhead – just 4 miles south of the Vilas County Fairgrounds.
What: A non-competitive walk or run along the Three Eagle Trail. Choose your own distance up to 17 miles round trip depending on how much natural beauty you can stand.
Why: To celebrate Eagle River’s Sesquicentennial while breathing the fresh air, soaking up the scenic wonders and burning a few calories with other outdoor enthusiasts.
Registration: There is no registration required and there is no fee to participate in this event.
